Speech Pathology & Blogging

What is blogging?

Blogs are a great tool for compiling information (like you see here!)
All this technology can get confusing... even Twitter has a blog: http://blog.twitter.com/
Simply put, a blog is a personal or group journal. The most recent post is usually at the top of the blog. Each blog features different information. For example this blog is on Personal Learning Networks within Speech Pathology.

To start your own blog:
Though "Blogger"
1. Go to "Google"
2. Look to the top of the webpage for "More"
3. Click "More" and select "Blogger"
OR type in http://www.blogger.com into your search engine.
OR  click "Create blog" on the menu bar at the top of this screen to create an account.
4. Sign up with a gmail account and follow the prompts.

2. Click on "Sign Up"
3. Follow the prompts. (i.e. provide an email address and choose a url name for your blog e.g. "speechtherapyresources.tumblr.com".
4. Dashboard. Here you can search for tags, explore tumblr and find other blogs.  Follow your favourite blogs, their updates will appear in your Dashboard.
5. Click on your page title (the name next to Dashboard on the top right hand corner) Here you will see all the content you have posted on your blog, you can select edit or delete on any post. This is also where you will see any Reblogs or likes of your entries. Click on customise theme to start design your blog.
6. Submit blog entries by selecting the icons, either audio, text, quote, video, links and follow the prompts.

What you then do from here is entirely up to you! Many people share resources or reflect on their experiences. Each blog is individual. Check out this video for comprehensive step by step instructions:

There are other platforms (i.e.  the website that hosts your page such as wordpress, typepad, moveable type, tripod). Get searching for the platform that works for you. Here is a guide to help you choose which site suits you best...
